#. In the top menu click on *Guides*.
#. In the drop down menu click on *Exegetical Guide* \\ or
#. click on a [[Custom Exegetical Guide >> Customizing the Passage and Exegetical Guides]]. \\ A custom Exegetical Guide will have sections that you have chosen and arranged. \\ \\ [[{{$ http://wiki.logos.com/media/EG1b.png?maxheight=300}} >> http://wiki.logos.com/media/EG1b.png]] \\
#. In the reference box enter the scripture range that you want to study. You will see a number of suggested pericopes from which you can select. \\ *Note*: Logos has a limit on the number of verses/words that it will display.

#. You can expand or collapse a section by clicking the arrow on the left side. \\ \\

* Click on *Exegetical Guide* in the Guides menu \\ or
* Select a Custom Guide e.g. *My Exegetical Guide*

!!! Opening from the right-click Context menu
Right click any part of the passage in your bible to open the Context menu: \\ \\ {{$ media:PGFromContextMenu.jpg?maxwidth=600 }}
 * select *Reference* on the right hand side e.g. 1 Cor 15:29         
 * select *Exegetical Guide* or *My Exegetical Guide* on the other side.
   * the guide will open in a new tab.

!!! Opening a saved Exegetical Guide
/This section does not apply to Logos 8/
When you make changes to sections of a guide, Logos 7 will /save/ that instance of the guide. \\ /Don't confuse a saved guide with a [[Custom Guide >> # Opening from the Guides menu]]/.
* Open the Guides menu and click on one of the listed(/saved/) Exegetical Guides on the right:

!!! Basic parts of the Exegetical Guide
When you make changes to sections in an Exegetical Guide, Logos 7 /saves/ that instance of the guide (see [[Opening a saved Exegetical Guide >> # Opening a saved Exegetical Guide]]). /Don't confuse a saved guide with a [[Custom Guide >> Customizing the Passage and Exegetical Guides]]/. In Logos 8, the guide itself is saved, and it becomes a customised guide.

/The next four points do not apply to Logos 8/

#. This is the /reference/ box where you enter the scripture reference you want to study. Once you start typing in a reference, Logos will show a drop down box with suggestions. After typing or selecting a reference you can start the guide by pressing /Enter/ on your keyboard or use you mouse to click on the blue arrow on the right side of the reference box.

Go to the [[Guides menu >> # Opening a saved Exegetical Guide]], right click a /saved/ Exegetical Guide and click *Delete*.
If the guide is already open:
 
#. This will delete a /saved/ guide for John 1:1 \\ [[{{$ http://wiki.logos.com/media/EG5a.png?maxheight=400 }} >> http://wiki.logos.com/media/EG5a.png]] \\
[[{{$ http://wiki.logos.com/media/EG5a.png?maxheight=400 }} >> http://wiki.logos.com/media/EG5a.png]] \\
#. Open your saved guide (see [[Opening a saved Exegetical Guide >> # Opening a saved Exegetical Guide]])
#. Click on the guide's icon to see the drop down menu.
#. Click on *Delete this guide*.
#. Click on the *X* in the guide’s panel to close the guide.
 
Otherwise, go to the [[Guides menu >> # Opening a saved Exegetical Guide]], right click a /saved/ Exegetical Guide and click *Delete*.

!!! Deleting a Custom Exegetical Guide
*Warning*: if you delete a custom Exegetical Guide in Logos 7, its saved guides will also be deleted.
*Warning*: if you delete a custom Exegetical Guide in Logos 7, its /saved/ guides will also be deleted.

#. Open the [[Guides menu >> # Opening from the Guides menu]].
#. Click on the *Guides* menu.
#. Locate the custom guide that you want to delete and _right click_ on it.
#. In the drop down menu locate the custom guide that you want to delete and _right click_ on it.
#. Click *Delete*.
#. In the pop-up menu click on *Delete*.
