*For disk space, add 50% to anestimateoftheLibrary download size e.g. a 10.8 GB download plus 5.4 GB estimateforindexing= 16.2 GB disk space.

!!! Why is the required disk space so large?

Logos has to store your Resources & Documents together with datasets & images for many of its features, and it builds a large Index which makes Logos' search speed possible. A Library of 2160 books uses about 27 GB.

 

!!! What can I do if I don't have enough disk space?

Delete temporary files and unused OS files, which can take up several GB. If possible, install Logos on a "Data" partition of your disk drive, or move large collections of photographs and images to an external drive.

 

If that is not possible, then Logos 8.4+ allows you to select a smaller "Recommended" installation. Which means that the above 27 GB installation only uses 12 GB with 400 books downloaded. The remaining books are still listed in Library, and [[can be easily downloaded >> Library]].

!!! Why doesn't Logos work when I install it as Administrator?

Logos is designed as a per-user application, so if the installer ever needs Admin rights it will *request* them e.g. to install the .NET Framework or update system-wide fonts. But if you install it using "Run as administrator" you will experience problems with regular updates of the application (and will need to run Logos the same way for the update to succeed).

Logos has to store your Resources & Documents together with datasets & images for many of its features, and it builds a large Index which makes Logos' search speed possible. An 1600 book library will take about 19 GB.

Note that all procedures will save downloading your resources again, which may be a concern with large libraries or imposed "data caps" where some ISPs restrict download amounts before premium charges are applied.

!!! How long will Indexing take?

*First time* indexing or *re-indexing* can be a long process, depending on factors like CPU speed, RAM and the number of resources being indexed. Be prepared for it to take from 1 hour (desktop computer) to 2days (tablet) for 1600 resources. You should definitely consider indexing overnight whilst you sleep! Indexing for *new/updated resources* can take several minutes and takes about the same time for a small number of non-bible resources.
