Custom Highlighting: Orig Lang. (for Visual Filters)

#. We will need a Bible which has a Reverse Interlinear for the Old Testament
 * Open the ESV Bible.
* In the reference box, enter the passage *Psalms23:1*
* In the reference box, enter the passage *Psalm3:1*
#. Right click on the word *LORD*
#. /N~/A/
#. In the Context Menu that appears:
#. A pop-up menu appears
 * Click on the /lemma/ symbol
 * On one side of the pop-up, click on *Lemma* (or the lemma symbol)
 * Click on *Text* to copy the reference
 * On the other side of the pop-up, click on *Copy*
#. In the Highlighting tool:
#. Open the Highlighting tool
 * Locate one of your /custom/ Palettes, then right click and select *Add a New Style* \\ /Click on/ *New Palette* /if you do not have a custom Palette/.
 * Locate one of your /custom/ Palettes in the Highlighting window, then right click and select *Add a New Style*
#. In the top part of the Edit window click on *Font Styling*.
   * Click on *New Palette* if you do not have a custom Palette.
 * Click on the scaling box, and in the drop down menu select *80%*
#. Now the Highlighting window shows you the highlighting editor.
 * (Optional) /click on the superscript button/ (*X{{^ 2}}*)
 * Look down at the bottom and click on *Insert Text* (was *Label Text*)
#. Below that, click on *Insert Text*
* In the box under *Text Before*,rightclickinit.

* in the pop-up menu,clickon*Paste*.(this pastes the Hebrew lemma that we copied in step 4)
*click*Paste* in the pop-up menu \\/this pastes the Hebrew lemma that we copied in step 3/
#. Look in the top part of the window and click on *Font Styling*.
 * click on the scaling box, and in the drop down menu select *80%*
 * Click on the superscript button (*X{{^ 2}}*)
 
 * Click on the scaling, and in the drop down menu select *80%*
#. Now click in the name box and give your highlighting style a name e.g. YHWH
#. Now click on the *OK* button to save your new highlighting style.
#. Now click on the *Save* button to save your new highlighting style.

Now let's try out the new highlighting style.
 * In the ESV, use your mouse to select the word LORD.
 * Click on your new highlighting style.
* Nowtheword LORDintheESVthatyouhighlightshould look like this: \\ \\ {{$ media:CustHL_OLVF1b.png?maxwidth=450}} \\ \\
* The word LORD should look like this: \\ \\ {{$@img-fluidamber:11039052:45542922}} \\ \\
 * /The 80% scaling minimises impact to line spacing/
 
If you want to use an English word instead of the Hebrew word e.g.Yahweh.
If you want to use an English word instead of the Hebrew word:
 * Skip steps 2 through 4.
 * In step 6, just type your English word e.g. Yahweh.
 * In step 6, just type your English word.
 * The word LORD should look like this after being highlighted: \\ \\ {{$ media:CustHL_OLVF1c.png?maxwidth=450 }} \\ \\

#. Select *ESV* for the resource
#. Select *Old Testament* for the range.
#. Open the ESV Bible and right click the word *LORD* in Psalm 23:1
#. Copy the lemma for *LORD* in Ps 3:1 (see step 3 above).
#. Copy the lemma (see step 4 above).
#. In the /Search/ box, type the text *lemma:* (with the colon), then paste the Hebrew word
 * it should look like *lemma:יהוה*
#. Click the /Formatting/ box on the right, and select the highlighting style that you created previously.
* In the ESV, you should see the word LORD change to show the newhighlighting.
* /In the ESV, you should see the word/*LORD*/change to reflect the highlighting/.
 
* It is important to know that every occurrence of the lemma that you used *may not be translated as LORD*. So where some occurrences of the highlighting show where they should not, you will understand what is happening.

* If you really wanted to customize your filter for each true lemma that is LORD, you could build a Passage List (see [[Using Passage List to limit Visual Filters]]{{~ )}}
* Possibly do a Morph Search on *lemma:יהוה INTERSECTS LORD*, then create a Passage List.
