* You can use a different link letter to link different resource types (e.g. use *A* for Bibles, use *B* for Lexicons).
* Linking can also be used(inLogos6.11+)to tie Bibles together with Lexicons or the Bible Word Study Guide. In this scenario, a single click on anEnglish word in your Bible will navigate the BWS or Lexicon to the underlying lemma (theBibleneedstohaveReverse Interlinearfunctionality).
* Linking can also be used to tie Bibles together with Lexicons or the Bible Word Study Guide.\\ In this scenario, a single click on a word in your Bible will navigate the BWS or lexicon to the underlying lemma (/Translations/needa Reverse Interlinear).

!! How do I link resources?
* You can Link each resource that you have open. Remember they need to be like resources for them to track each other. So you could have 12 Bibles open and have them all linked together with the same /Link letter/. \\ \\

* Logos provides six links denoted by letters *A* to *F* (see below) \\ \\    {{$ media:Linking1a.jpg }} \\ \\

#. Click on the panel menu icon in the toolbar.
 * A drop down menu for the resource will appear. \\ Notice the linking options.
#. Click on a link letter that you want to use e.g. *B*.
#. After setting the link, the link letter is displayed in the resource's tab.
 * it may not be visible if you have many tabs in the same tile (or column) of your layout.

\\ \\ \\
* See [[Examples >> # Examples]] for step-by-step details and other ideas.

#. After setting the link, notice the link letter appears next to your icon for that resource.
#. Now repeat steps 1 to 3 for another resource _using the same link letter_. (remember your resources need to be of the same type)

* See [[Examples >> # Examples]] for step-by-step details and other ideas.
!! How many resources can I link together?
* You have six (6) link letters - *A* thru *F*, which means you can have 6 different link sets between 12 or more resources!
* In theory, you can link each resource that you have open, but you can only track /like/ resources e.g. 4 bibles with link letter *A*, 2 lexicons with link letter *B*, 2 bibles and 2 commentaries with link letter *C*.

\\ \\ \\
\\

!! How do I turn Off a Link on a single resource?
#. Click on the resource's icon found in the upper left area of your resource's window.
#. Open the resource's [[panel menu >> # How do I link resources?]]
#. Click on *None* to the right of the Link letters.\\\\{{$media:Linking1c.jpg}}\\\\
#. Click on *None* to the right of the Link letters
*Noticethat the link letter disappeared from the resource's iconontheupperleftofthewindow.
* the link letterwilldisappear from the resource's tab.

\\ \\ \\
\\

!! How do I clear all links?
#. Click on the resource's icon found in the upper left area of your resource's window.
#. Open the resource's [[panel menu >> # How do I link resources?]]
#. When the window's drop down menu appears, click on *Clear all links*. \\ \\   {{$ media:Linking1b.jpg }} \\ \\
#. Click on *Clear all links*
*Noticethatall link letters disappeared from allthe resource'siconsineachwindow.
*the link letters willdisappear from all resource tabs.

\\ \\ \\

!! How can I save the way that my resources are linked?
* When you save your Layout (how all your windows/books are organized), it saves your resource linking. (this is the safest way)
#.  When you [[create a named layout >> Layouts # How do you save your current Layout?]], it also saves your resource linking.
 * See [[Saving your Layout >> Layouts # How do you save your current Layout? ]]  \\ \\
#. Then you can [[update it manually >> Layouts # How can you update a Layout?]] and/or have [[Logos do it for you >> Layouts # How do I get a layout to show when I open Logos?]]
* Logos will save your current Layout when you close it. Thus your resource linking is saved.
  * So Logos can save your layout when it is closed and it can open with your layout; preserving your resource linking.
 * But if your computer crashes or Logos crashes, you might loose the way your resources were linked (if they were different that the last time you closed Logos).
  * But you might loose some work if Logos, or your computer, crashes, \\ as it will recover the /previous/ layout that was saved.
 * So saving your Layout is a safe way to ensure that your resource linking and windows/resources layout is saved.

!! Examples

#. In this example, notice that the passages for each Bible are at different locations. \\ \\ [[ {{$ http://wiki.logos.com/media/Linking3b2.png?maxwidth=600 }} >> http://wiki.logos.com/media/Linking3b2.png]] \\ \\

* You can link other Bibles to this same link set (*A*), or link them using a different link set.
#. Notice that the Bible passage of the second Bible changed to that of the first Bible.
#. Now scroll (or change the passage in the passage box) in either Bible and notice that both Bibles track each other. \\ \\ [[ {{$ http://wiki.logos.com/media/Linking3e2.png?maxwidth=600 }} >> http://wiki.logos.com/media/Linking3e2.png]] \\ \\
