* Bookmarks are as they suggest, they mark where you were reading in one of your books.

* Logos provides up to 9 bookmarks.

* These are not the same as Visual Bookmarks. (see [[Visual Bookmarks >> Visual Bookmarks]] )

* Bookmarks toolappearsunder the Favorites tool panel.

#. Clickon*Tools* in the top menu.

#. Select *Favorites* in the *Tools* menu.

#. In the drop down menu, click on *Favorites*.

#. A narrow tool panel will appear on the left side of your Logos window, with *Bookmarks* at the bottom. \\ \\ {{$@img-fluid amber:11119785:46008777?maxheight=400}} \\ \\

#. The *Favorites* tool panel will appear on the left side of your Logos work area.

#. Drag its tab to the other side of the window if you have other /tools/ in a narrow panel.

!! How do I set a bookmark?

* You will need to open the book in which you want to bookmark.

* Next you will need to place your reading position so that it appears at the top of your panel.(e.g. ESV Bible was opened with Luke 2:1 at the top of the pane)

* You can then use the keyboard to set a bookmark by pressingkeycombination*Ctrl+Shift+1* on PC or *Cmd+Opt+Shift+1* on Mac (replacing *1* with which bookmark that you want,from1to9).

* You can then use the keyboard to set a bookmark by pressing *Ctrl+Shift+1* on PC or *Cmd+Opt+Shift+1* on Mac\\ (replacing *1* with the bookmarknumber that you want).

* In example below, ESV Luke 2:1 was created by pressing*Ctrl+Shift+4*onPCor*Cmd+Opt+Shift+4*onMac=>4thbookmark. \\ \\ {{$ media:Bookmarks1b.jpg }}{{$media:Mac-UI-Bookmark-4.png}}\\ \\

* Inthe example below, "ESV: Luke 2:1-52" was created by using 4 forthebookmarknumber. \\ \\ {{$ media:Bookmarks1b.jpg }} \\ \\

* Or you can drag and drop a bookmark using the numbered steps below. Dragging is holding down the left mouse button while moving the mouse (don't release the mouse button while moving the mouse) and dropping occurs when you release the mouse button.

* Or you can [[drag and drop >> Drag-and-drop]] a bookmark using the numbered steps below:

 #. Open the Favorites tool so that you can see Bookmarks on your work area. (see [[How do I view the Bookmarks tool? >> # How do I view the Bookmarks tool?]] ).

 #. In the book, position the place that you want to bookmark at the top of the panel.

 #. Open the book that you want to bookmark (e.g. ESV Bible).

 #. Drag the tab for your book onto the required bookmark number.

 #. Position the place in the book that you want to bookmark (e.g. move the verse to the top of the window of your visible book).

 #. Drag the Tab for your book to the bookmark that you want to have it saved as (e.g. the image shows saving the ESV in the 4th bookmark).

!! How do I open a book using a Bookmark?

* Click on a bookmark to open it into your work area. (if bookmarks tool is not visible, see [[How do I view the Bookmarks tool? >> # How do I view the Bookmarks tool?]] )  If the book is not already visible in a Tab in your work area, then Logos will open that book in a Tab associated with that type of book.

* Click on a bookmark to open it into your layout. \\ If the book is not open, then Logos will open a copy.  \\ \\ {{$ media:Bookmarks2a.jpg }} \\ \\

* Or you can right click on the bookmark and a pop-up menu will appear which allows you to *Open in a new tab* or *Open in a floating window*.\\\\{{$media:Bookmarks2a.jpg}}\\\\

* Or you can right click on the bookmark and a pop-up menu will appear which allows you to *Open in a new tab* or *Open in a floating window*.

* Or holding the Ctrl key down and click on a bookmark will open the book in a new Tabonyourworkarea.

* Or hold the Ctrl key down and click on the bookmark to open the book in a new Tab.

* Or you can use the keyboard to open a bookmark by using key combination *Ctrl+4*onPCor*Cmd+4* onMac(replace *4* with appropriate bookmark number).

* Or you can use the keyboard to open a bookmark by using key combination *Ctrl+4*~/*Cmd+4* \\ (replace *4* with theappropriate bookmark number).

!! How do I update or replace a Bookmark?

* To update a bookmark

* To /update/, make sure that your new position is placed at the top of your book's panel. \\ Then [[overwrite your previous bookmark >> # How do I set a bookmark?]].

 * Make sure that your new position is placed at the top of your book's window. Then overwrite your previous bookmark (see [[How do I set a bookmark? >> # How do I set a bookmark?]] ).

* To /replace/ a used bookmark, just [[/reuse/ that bookmark >> # How do I set a bookmark?]].

* To replace a bookmark, just bookmark your new bookmark over the old bookmark. (see [[How do I set a bookmark? >> # How do I set a bookmark?]] )..

* There are 2 ways to clear a bookmark

* There are 2 ways to clear a bookmark:

#. Hold the mouse over the bookmark and then click on the *x* next to the bookmark \\\\{{$media:Bookmarks3a.jpg}}\\\\

#. Hold the mouse over the bookmark and then click on the *x* next to the bookmark;or

#. Orright click on the bookmark and click on *Clear* in the pop-up menu.\\\\{{$media:Bookmarks3b.jpg}}\\\\

#. Right click on the bookmark and click on *Clear* in the pop-up menu.
