!! Sections in the Exegetical Guide
!!! Word by Word
This is a powerful feature of the Exegetical Guide. It shows you the original language for your Bible verse as well as an English translation. Logos uses [[Reverse Interlinear bibles >> Reverse-Interlinear/Interlinear Bibles]] to do this. Virtually every word is a link which performs some function.
Note that Logos limits the number of verses/words that it will show in the guide.

* *Show all parts of speech*: shows all parts of speech.
* *Include only these parts of speech*: check which parts of speech that you want to be shown.
* Hover or click over links/words that have not been described here (where the mouse pointer changes shape). \\ A click will usually open a resource or a tool
\\
!!! Apparatuses
Logos will search to see if your library contains an /apparatus/ in the vicinity of your Bible verse(s). If it finds one or more then this section will show you links to those apparatuses. For more information on apparatuses see this [[webpage >> http://www.bible-researcher.com/tisch02.html]]. Also recently a Blog on Logos discussed [[How is the SBLGNT Apparatus Different from Other Apparatuses? >> http://blog.logos.com/archives/2010/12/how_is_the_sblgnt_apparatus_different_from_other_apparatus (…)
This section provides access to /apparatuses/ which have entries in the vicinity of your Bible passage. If it finds one or more then this section will show you links to those apparatuses.
For more information on apparatuses see [[this webpage >> http://www.bible-researcher.com/tisch02.html]] and [[articles in the Logos Blog >> https://blog.logos.com/?s=apparatus]].
{{$@img-fluid amber:11174455:46294772?maxwidth=550}}
To find which apparatuses you have open [[your Library >> Library # Search Fields that you can use in the Find box]] and type in the /Find/ box: *type:apparatus* (with no spaces on either side of the colon). Logos will show you which apparatuses that you have. \\ \\
* Resources can be /sorted/ according to: {{$@img-fluid amber:11086078:45800934?maxheight=12}}
[[{{$ http://wiki.logos.com/media/EG2a.png?maxwidth=600 }} >> http://wiki.logos.com/media/EG2a.png]] \\ \\
* *Priority* - your prioritization.
#. Click on the /Apparatuses/ section to have Logos search for apparatuses. If found then Logos will expand to show you links to them.
* *Series* - series name
#. Here you will see links to apparatuses in your library which deal with your Bible passage.
* *Author* - author's last name
#. After clicking on the link in step 2, Logos opened the new SBLGNT apparatuses to the vicinity of the Bible passage that was entered in the reference box.
* Hover over the resource to see the apparatus text in a popup \\ or click on the small arrow to its left.
\\
!!! Grammars
!!!GrammaticalConstructions
Grammars – a resource explaining grammatical principles in Bible passages.
This section shows interesting grammatical features in the passage being studied.
Logos has a short article on [[Grammars >> http://www.logos.com/greek/nt#grammars]].
To find out which grammar resources that you have, open [[your Library >> Library # Search Fields that you can use in the Find box]] and type in the /Find/ box: *type:grammar* (with no spaces on either side of the colon). Logos will show you which grammar resources that you have.
{{$@img-fluid amber:11174449:46294650?maxwidth=550}}
* Hover over a construction e.g. *Apodosis*, to see what it means and click the “search for …” icon to find other occurrences of this particular construction in the biblical text.
\\
!!! Textual Variants
This section provides access to text-critical information on the verse or passage you are studying. This includes links to textual commentaries, apparatus, and original language texts in your Library.
{{$@img-fluid amber:11174439:46294618?maxwidth=550}}
\\
{{$ media:EG2b.png }}
#. Links to grammars which were found appear when you expand the grammar section.
#. If you hover your mouse over the Grammars section, *Settings* will appear. If you click on *Settings* you can select which resources that you want Logos to search through in finding grammar hits for your scripture reference.
#. The Grammars section is one in which you can have multiple copies in your Exegetical Guide. Use *Add* to provide additional Grammars sections.
\\
!!! Visualizations
Visualizations – a resource containing visual analyses of sentences, clauses and phrases
This section shows resources in your Library that visually depict the structure of the biblical text e.g. sentences, clauses, phrases.
To find out which visualization resources that you have, open [[your Library >> Library # Search Fields that you can use in the Find box]] and type in the /Find/ box: *type:visualization* (with no spaces on either side of the colon). Logos will show you which visualization resources that you have.
\\
{{$@img-fluid amber:11174419:46294285?maxwidth=550}}
[[{{$ http://wiki.logos.com/media/EG2c.png?maxwidth=600 }} >> http://wiki.logos.com/media/EG2c.png]] \\ \\
#. These are links to visualization resources which Logos found for John 1:1
* Resources can be /sorted/ according to: {{$@img-fluid amber:11086078:45800934?maxheight=12}}
#. When clicking on a link, Logos will open the resource to visualizations for your Bible passage.
* *Priority* - your prioritization.
\\
* *Series* - series name
!!! Word by Word
* *Author* - author's last name
This is a powerful feature of the Exegetical Guide. It shows you the original language for your Bible verse as well as an English translation. Logos uses [[Reverse Interlinear bibles >> Reverse-Interlinear/Interlinear Bibles]] to do this. Virtually every word is a link which performs some function (see the descriptions below). Note that Logos limits the number of verses/words that it will show in the guide.
* Click a resource to open it and hover over a /node/ to show its definition (in a popup box). Its scope may also be shown.
\\
[[{{$ http://wiki.logos.com/media/EG4a.png?maxheight=400 }} >> http://wiki.logos.com/media/EG4a.png]] \\ \\
#. This item shows you which Reverse Interlinear that you are using (if your preferred Bible is an interlinear, then it is probably the default). If you click on this item a drop down list will appear of all your reverse interlinears. Clicking on one of them will change which RI is used in *Word by Word*. \\
#. The large gray box contains a full verse. If you have set your reference to span more than one verse, you will see one of these boxes for each verse. With word(s) that you have chosen to view via the *Settings* (see item #4) under its verse box. \\ \\ [[{{$ http://wiki.logos.com/media/EG2d.png?maxheight=130 }} >> http://wiki.logos.com/media/EG2d.png]] \\ \\
#. This is the verse for this box. If you click on it, it will open your reverse interlinear to that Bible verse.
#. If you click on this arrow in the box, it will {{* expand/collapse}} that verse along with each word-box under that verse.
#. Notice that the verse box shows the Original Language on the left and the English translation on the right.
#. These show you where the verse text is from (Original Language from your RI and your English version). If you click on either of these Logos will open your Bible to that verse and open the Reverse Interlinear at the bottom of your resource.
#. If you have used /Settings/ to change which word(s) appear, then notice that words that you wanted to appear are shown in _Black_ and the words that were not selected appear in _Gray_. \\ \\ [[{{$ http://wiki.logos.com/media/EG4b.png?maxheight=220 }} >> http://wiki.logos.com/media/EG4b.png]] \\ \\
#. If you click on one of the black words (in either Orig. Lang. or English) in the verse box, Logos will turn it *orange* on both versions in the verse box and will turn it orange for that occurrence in the word-box under the verse box (if that word-box is not visible, Logos will reposition and expand it in your display).
#. If you click on one of the gray words (on either side), Logos will create a word-box for that word. To hide that word-box you will need to click in /Settings/ to expand /Word by Word/ again. \\ \\
#. These are word-boxes for each word that you have enabled in the /Settings/. They will appear under the verse box from which they came and in the order in which they appear in the Original Language. Notice that you will see multiple occurrences of a word when it appears multiple times in the verse. This is necessary for the links in each box to work (e.g. used to position your reverse interlinear, see 3a). \\ \\ [[{{$ http://wiki.logos.com/media/EG4c.png?maxheight=220 }} >> http://wiki.logos.c (…)
#. This is the manuscript form of the Original Language word found in the verse. If it is orange, you have clicked on it in the verse box (see item 2f). If you click on it, Logos will position your reverse interlinear to that word (if your RI is not open, Logos will open it first). If you hover your mouse over this word, a pop-up box will appear showing you the verse from your English Bible.
#. This is the transliterated pronunciation of the original language word.
#. If you click on this arrow, the word-box will collapse/expand.
#. This is lemma form of the original language word. If you hover your mouse over it, Logos will show you a pop-up box letting you know that it is also a link and that you can open the [[Bible Word Study]] to that word. To open BWS to that word, just click on it.
#. If your original language word is Greek, then this icon will be enabled. If you click on it Logos will pronounce this lemma form of the word. Notice the transliterated pronunciation of the word and the gloss definition of the word to the right of the icon.
#. This is the morphological tagging for this word. If you hover your mouse over one of the morph words, Logos will show you a pop-up box with its definition. If you click on one of these morph words, Logos will open a grammar resource to that morph's word definition.
#. These are dictionary/lexicons in which this word is found. If you hover your mouse over one of these links a pop-up box will appear showing you the definition. If you click on one of these links, that resource will be opened to your word.
#. If Logos finds more resources defining this word you will see the *more* link. If you click on it, more resource will be shown. Be aware that once you click on it, the expanded list of resources remains visible. You can override this by reselecting your /Setting/ and expanding /Word by Word/ again.
#. If you click on a black English word, Logos will position your reverse interlinear to that word (if your RI is not open, Logos will open it first. I found that you may need to click on the word again to position to that word if Logos had to open the RI or Bible.). If you hover your mouse over this word, a pop-up box will appear showing you the verse from your English Bible. \\ \\
#. Hover your mouse over the *Word by Word* section and click on *Settings*: \\ \\ [[{{$ http://wiki.logos.com/media/EG4f.png?maxheight=250 }} >> http://wiki.logos.com/media/EG4f.png]] \\
* *Show all words*: all original language words for each verse will be shown.
* *Show only lemmas occurring XX times or fewer*: this allows you to view only words which appear a maximum XX times in the original language text e.g. ESV NT, Greek NT, Septuagint.
* *Show all parts of speech*: shows all parts of speech.
* *Include only these parts of speech*: check which parts of speech that you want to be shown.
