!! Objective
This page will show you how to create a [[Floating Tool Window >> floating tool windows]] which can have resources, guides, and tools which behave similar to using the /Go Box/ found on the Home page. Unlike using the Go Box on the Home page, a custom Go Box will not disturb your layout that you have open in the main Logos window (not Home page, but layout view). To build this floating tool you will need to use some techniques that you may not be familiar with: Favorites folders and flexible Gu (…)

!!!! What do you mean by a *Go Box*?
Most of us started using Logos from the Home page. In the Home page we are used to seeing a box where we enter our scripture reference and then press the *Go* button. Many of us here in the forum refer to this box & button as the *Go Box* (see item *A* in the image below).

  [[{{$ http://wiki.logos.com/media/CustGoBox1a2.png?maxheight=300 }} >> http://wiki.logos.com/media/CustGoBox1a2.png]] \\ \\

After we hit the *Go* button Logos takes us to the layout area where we see a fixed layout (see image below) with each resource set to our scripture reference we entered in the /Go Box/ on the Home page. If you have learned to build your own layouts and have used the /Go Box/ you are familiar with this action erasing your current work in the layout window and replacing it with the layout shown below.

!!!! What will the Custom Go Box do?
A /Custom Go Box/ will allow you to study in your preferred layout then when you need to view Tools/Guides/Resources in your custom Go Box you can quickly open it in a floating window with each item set to your current scripture location found in the Bible that you are reading in your main layout. Then when you are done using the custom Go box, you simply close the floating window and continue on with your study in the main window. You may find a few verses later in your main study that you wou (…)

#. This shows a simple study in my main Logos window.
#. By right clicking on the Favorite folder for *My Go Box* I can quickly open my /Custom Go Box/.
#. After Logos opens my custom Go box in a floating window I can quickly rearrange the resources/guides/tools to my liking.

\\ \\
!! How to build a Custom Go Box
Follow the steps below to create a /Custom Go Box/ tool. You will see links within the instructions below. If you do not know how to perform the operation please follow the link to learn more about the operation. After learning you can hit Back on your browser to return to these instructions.

 [[{{$ http://wiki.logos.com/media/CustGoBox2a.png?maxwidth=600 }} >> http://wiki.logos.com/media/CustGoBox2a.png]] \\ \\
* *First lets start with a blank layout and open our Favorites window*
#. In the /Command/ box type: *Close all*. Then press /Enter/ on your keyboard to clear the layout area.
#. In the top menu click on *Tools*.
#. In the drop down menu grab *Favorites* and drag it to your layout to create a panel then drop it on the layout. \\ \\
 * *Now we need to create a Folder in our Favorites window to hold our Tools/Guides/Resources for our Custom Go Box* \\ \\   [[{{$ http://wiki.logos.com/media/CustGoBox2b.png?maxwidth=300 }} >> http://wiki.logos.com/media/CustGoBox2b.png]] \\ \\
#. In the Favorites toolbar click on *New Folder* to have Logos create a new Folder.
#. After Logos adds it, type: *My Go Box* to change the folder's name. \\ \\
* *Now lets add Tools and Guides to our folder* \\ \\  [[{{$ http://wiki.logos.com/media/CustGoBox2c2.png?maxwidth=300 }} >> http://wiki.logos.com/media/CustGoBox2c2.png]] \\ \\
#. (see [[Adding flexible Tools/Guides to your Favorites >> # Adding flexible Tools/Guides to your Favorites]] to learn how to do this). \\ Add your flexible Tool or Guide to the *My Go Box* folder in Favorites.
#. Repeat step #4 until you get all your flexible Tools & Guides added to your folder that you want to appear in the /Custom Go Box/. \\ \\
* *Now lets add flexible resources to our folder* \\ \\  [[{{$ http://wiki.logos.com/media/CustGoBox2d.png?maxwidth=600 }} >> http://wiki.logos.com/media/CustGoBox2d.png]] \\ \\
#. (see [[Adding flexible resources to your Favorites >> # Adding flexible resources to your Favorites]] to learn how to do this). \\ Add your flexible Resources to the *My Go Box* folder in Favorites.
#. Repeat step #5 until you get all your flexible Resources added to your folder that you want to appear in the /Custom Go Box/. \\ \\
* *Now lets check to make sure our Tools/Guides and Resources are correctly inside our folder.* \\ \\  [[{{$ http://wiki.logos.com/media/CustGoBox2e.png?maxwidth=300 }} >> http://wiki.logos.com/media/CustGoBox2e.png]] \\ \\
#. Make sure that all your Tools/Guides and Resources are located under the *My Go Box* folder and are indented. \\ If you dropped it the wrong place don't panic. You can use your mouse to grab and drag it over the Folder and drop it there.
#. Now go to this [[article >> # How to use your new Custom Go Box]] to learn how to use your new /Custom Go Box/.

\\ \\
!! How to use your new Custom Go Box

* *In the main Logos layout window open your Bible and Favorites*
 [[{{$ http://wiki.logos.com/media/CustGoBox5a.png?maxwidth=600 }} >> http://wiki.logos.com/media/CustGoBox5a.png]] \\ \\
#. Open a Bible in the main window of Logos. \\ (You could have your favorite Layout open here and use it, but you will need Favorites open per step 2)
#. Open Favorites in the main window of Logos (top menu click on *Tools* and in the drop down menu click on *Favorites*)
#. In your Bible make sure the scripture reference that you want to view in your /Custom Go Box/ is correct. If you want to view a scripture range, make sure the range is showing here.
#. In the Favorites window _right click_ on the *My Go Box* folder. In the pop-up menu click on *Open all in a floating window*. \\ \\  [[{{$ http://wiki.logos.com/media/CustGoBox5b.png?maxwidth=600 }} >> http://wiki.logos.com/media/CustGoBox5b.png]] \\ \\
#. Logos opens all the Tools/Guides/Resources that we have under the folder /My Go Box/. \\ Notice that they are not arranged in different panels. That is the down side, but we can quickly rearrange them. \\ \\   [[{{$ http://wiki.logos.com/media/CustGoBox5c.png?maxwidth=600 }} >> http://wiki.logos.com/media/CustGoBox5c.png]] \\ \\
#. Grab tabs and drag them in your floating window to place them as new panels. This can usually be done very quickly. \\ \\    [[{{$ http://wiki.logos.com/media/CustGoBox5d.png?maxwidth=600 }} >> http://wiki.logos.com/media/CustGoBox5d.png]] \\ \\
#. Now you have your /Custom Go Box/ open and ready to use. Enjoy!

\\ \\
!! Adding flexible Tools/Guides to your Favorites
Flexible Tools/Guides are created by dragging a /Shortcut/ into the Favorites window. You will need to create temporary shortcuts for these. Once you have created the flexible favorite for your Tool or Guide then you will want to delete that shortcut. A flexible Tool/Guide in a favorite will allow your favorite to track the active scripture item when clicked. Thus why I call it flexible. For more information on Flexible verses Fixed please see this [[post >> http://community.logos.com/forums/p/ (…)

!!!! Adding flexible Guide to your Favorites

 [[{{$ http://wiki.logos.com/media/CustGoBox3a.png?maxwidth=500 }} >> http://wiki.logos.com/media/CustGoBox3a.png]] \\ \\

Then drop it there. \\ \\   [[{{$ http://wiki.logos.com/media/CustGoBox3c.png?maxwidth=500 }} >> http://wiki.logos.com/media/CustGoBox3c.png]] \\ \\
#. Now let's delete our temporary shortcut. Right click on the shortcut that you created in step #2. \\ In the drop down menu click on *Delete*.
#. Make sure that your flexible favorite that you created is under your Favorite Folder and is indented under it. \\ If you dropped it the wrong place don't panic. You can use your mouse to grab and drag it over the Folder and drop it there.

\\ \\
!!!! Adding flexible Tools to your Favorites

 [[{{$ http://wiki.logos.com/media/CustGoBox3d.png?maxwidth=500 }} >> http://wiki.logos.com/media/CustGoBox3d.png]] \\ \\

\\ \\
!!!! Adding flexible Passage Analysis tools to your Favorites
Passage Analysis tools are all located in a single floating window. So we need to use the /Command/ box to create a shortcut in the shortcut bar for added it to our Favorities.

 [[{{$ http://wiki.logos.com/media/CustGoBox3g.png?maxwidth=500 }} >> http://wiki.logos.com/media/CustGoBox3g.png]] \\ \\
#. In the /Command/ box type: *Show Morph* until you see Logos show you the full command in the drop down list. \\ Show M = Morph River \\ Show W = Word Tree \\ Show V = Version River \\ Show C = Compare Pericopes \\ \\
#. When you see the correct command in the drop down list grab it with your mouse and drag it to the shortcut bar and drop it there. This will create a shortcut for this specific Passage Analysis tool. \\ \\   [[{{$ http://wiki.logos.com/media/CustGoBox3h.png?maxwidth=500 }} >> http://wiki.logos.com/media/CustGoBox3h.png]] \\ \\

#. Make sure that your flexible favorite that you created is under your Favorite Folder and is indented under it. \\ If you dropped it the wrong place don't panic. You can use your mouse to grab and drag it over the Folder and drop it there.

\\ \\
!! Adding flexible resources to your Favorites
Flexible resources are those which are dragged from the Library or the Shortcut bar. When you drag a resource from these locations Logos will not fix the scripture reference to its favorite. If you drag an open resource to Favorites, Logos appends the resources current scripture or page number to the favorite. So when adding resources to a Custom Go Box we need them to be flexible so that what ever scripture we have open in our main window will be applied to our resource when we open the Custom (…)

 [[{{$ http://wiki.logos.com/media/CustGoBox4a.png?maxwidth=600 }} >> http://wiki.logos.com/media/CustGoBox4a.png]] \\ \\
#. Open the Library as a window in your layout. Place its window close to your Favorites window, this will make it easier to add your resources.
#. [Optional] You can sort your resources by [[Type >> Library # Using a Column heading to filter your resource list]] and then click on your resource's type to locate them.
#. Locate a resource that you want to create a flexible favorite for and with your mouse click on the title and drag it to the Favorites window. And the image over the Folder that you want your resource to be place and drop it there. \\ \\   [[{{$ http://wiki.logos.com/media/CustGoBox4b.png?maxwidth=600 }} >> http://wiki.logos.com/media/CustGoBox4b.png]] \\ \\
#. Now make sure that your new flexible favorite is located under your folder and indented. \\ If you dropped it the wrong place don't panic. You can use your mouse to grab and drag it over the Folder and drop it there.
#. Repeat step #2 for other resources in which you want to add as flexible resources in your Favorites folder.
