!! What are Parallel Resources?

* Parallel Resources are those resources which are indexed similarly:

* Parallel Resources allow you to quickly change the resource in the _current tab_ to that of another resource with the *same* reference \\ e.g. same Bible passage, same topic/headword, same Greek lemma.

  * Bibles - different Bible versions are considered parallel resources.

* Parallel Resources can only come from resource /types/ that are /indexed/ similarly e.g.:

  * Dictionaries - different dictionaries are considered parallel resources.

  * bibles, bible commentaries, bible notes and study bibles.

  * Commentaries - different commentaries are considered parallel resources.

  * encyclopedias and bible concordances.

* Parallel Resources allow you to quickly change the resource in the _current tab_ to that of another resource using the same reference e.g. same Bible verse.

  * original language lexicons

* When Parallel Resources are available for a resource you will notice theicon {{$ media:ParallelResourceicon.png }} in the resource's toolbar.

* When Parallel Resources are available for a resource you will notice the {{$ media:ParallelResourceicon.png }} iconin the resource's toolbar.

* Parallel Resources will always have the default column /All Parallel Resources/ but there can be additional columns for /Collections/ (see [[Collections & Parallel Resources >> # Collections & Parallel Resources]]{{~ )}}.

* Not all books will have Parallel Resources.

* Books which don't have a /Reference box/(e.g.ALONEWITHGOD)

* Books which don't have a /Reference box/

 * Books which have only _page numbers_ in the reference box.

!!! How do I get a Collection to appear in Parallel Resources?

* You will need to setup your /Collections/ prior to using them in Parallel Resources (see [[Collections]]{{~ )}}. \\

#. Click on *Tools* in the top menu.

#. Click on *Collections* in the drop down menu.

 * Logos will open a tab for /Collections/. \\  

#. Click on the *Open* button in the toolbar and open the collection that you want to use for Parallel Resources. \\ \\ {{$@img-fluid amber:11059856:45663309?maxwidth=550}} \\ \\

#. Click on the *Open* button in /Collections/ toolbar and open the collection that you want to tag for use in Parallel Resources (see [[Opening Collections >> Collections # Opening]]{{~ )}}.

#. Click on the checkbox so that this collection can be used with Parallel Resources.

#. Click on the checkbox so that this collection can be used with Parallel Resources. \\ \\ {{$ media:ParallelRes4b.jpg?maxwidth=600 }} \\ \\

#. Repeat the above to enable other collections that you want to use with Parallel Resources.

#. Repeat steps 3 & 4 to enable/disable any /Collections/ which you want to use with Parallel Resources.

* Note that Parallel Resources will only use your collection if it has books in it which are similar.

* *Note:*

 * For instance, if you have Bibles in your collection and the resource you are trying to view Parallel Resources with is a Bible, then you should see that /Collection/.

 * don't use a collection if you are happy with /All Parallel Resources/

 * So _not_ every /Collection/ that you have enabled shows up in every resource. Only those with similar resources present.

 * use a collection that reflects your intended usage e.g. a collection of Greek lexicons (rather than Greek, Hebrew and Aramaic lexicons), a collection of Septuagint bibles.

 * a collection of bible commentaries, study bibles and bible notes can be used with any open bible commentary.

!!! Why don't I see my Collection in Parallel Resources?

* Make sure that you have your /Collection/ tagged to be used with Parallel Resources (see [[How do I get a Collection to appear in Parallel Resources? >> # How do I get a Collection to appear in Parallel Resources?]]{{~ )}}. \\

* Make sure that you have your /Collection/ tagged to be used with Parallel Resources

* The resource that you are using *must* be in that collection. Check your collection /rule/ to see why the resource is not included.

* Your entry in the /Reference box/ (below) may not be found in any other resources for that /Collection/. \\ \\ {{$ media:ParallelResource-topic.png }} \\ \\

* The resource that you are using *is not* in that collection:

  * if possible, switch to a resource that is in that collection, and

  * check your collection /rule/ to see why that resource is not included.

* Your entry in the /Reference box/ (below) may not be found in any other resources for that /Collection/: \\ \\ {{$ media:ParallelResource-topic.png }} \\ \\

 * For some resource /types/ this isn't unusual i.e. bible dictionaries. \\ Check your collection /rule/ to see if any resources have been excluded.

 * If it is a Bible/Commentary:

   * the reference could be outside your preferred /canon/; for which you only have one bible/commentary.

   * if it is an OT reference the other books in the collection may only cover the NT (and vice-versa).

* Is the value in the /Reference box/ a *page number*? \\ _Then you will need to change the /Visual Filter/._ \\     a) Click on the /Visual Filter/ icon. \\       b) Uncheck the *Show Page Number* entry.   

* If you have more than one Collection with this resource, you may need to change the Parallel Resource /page/

*Ifyouhavemorethanone/Collection/whichappliestothisresource,youmayneedtochangetheParallelResourcepage(seelaterpartof [[What shows up in the Parallel Resources? >> # What shows up in the Parallel Resources?]]{{~)}}.

* Not all books will have Parallel Resources.

!! What is the order of Books in Parallel Resources?

* The ordering of Books that you see in the Parallel Resources drop down menu(s) appear as follows

* They follow the order that you have set in your Library's prioritization (see [[Prioritizing]]{{~ )}}, \\ but note that:

 * First they follow the order that you have set in your Library's prioritization. (see [[Prioritizing]]{{~ )}}

  * resources appear only if they match the reference in your /reference/ box.

 * Secondly they appear only if a match to what was in your reference box was found in that resource.

  * the /All Parallel Resources/ column will include resources outside of your collection(s)

 * Thirdly the /All Parallel Resources/ column will include resources outside of your collection(s), and in strict order of prioritization.

 * Once that you have passed the last book, it will start at the beginning of the list. \\ \\

 * You can tag which Parallel Resource Column to use with your keyboard sequence. \\  a) First click on the Parallel Resource icon. \\   b) Then click on the column to use. \\      (Notice the Checkmark over the column. This tells Logos which Parallel Resource source to use with the keyboard) \\ \\ {{$ media:ParallelRes8a.jpg }} \\ \\

  * click on the Parallel Resource icon.

!! Tip: quick way to sequence through PR's that you've viewed

* If you have used Parallel Resources to change one or more different resources:

 * You can use the /History/ arrows to sequence back and forth through those resources. \\ \\ {{$ media:ParallelRes9a.jpg }} \\ \\

 * This can save you some time if you selected resources which were not in sequential order in your Parallel Resource list.

 * The bad news is that if you have scrolled or changed locations in the resource, then it will methodically sequence through those too.
